Research Posters

Research poster abstract submissions have closed. Instructions and guidelines have been sent to in-person and virtual poster presenters. If you submitted a research poster abstract and did not receive these instructions and guidelines, please email HEALScientificMeeting@iqsolutions.com.

All research poster presenters should create an engaging poster that is relevant to scientific and non-scientific audiences. This includes clearly communicating 1-3 key takeaways on your poster. You should use plain language as much as possible and avoid harmful and stigmatizing language and imagery. Refer to your research poster instructions and guidelines for more information and resources on how to create an effective and accessible poster.

New this year, people with lived and living experience of pain conditions and/or substance use disorders and other community advisors will have the opportunity to rate in-person research posters on how well they communicate the key takeaways and why the research matters. Presenters for the research posters with the highest ratings will be recognized at the end of the meeting with the NIH HEAL Initiative® Awardees.

In-person poster presenters:

In-person poster presenters will bring their printed posters with them on the day of the meeting. Presenters will be responsible for printing their own poster ahead of time. In-person posters should be developed and printed in landscape orientation. Posters should be 8ft (width) x 4ft (height). Posters will be pinned to large boards like this:

Poster setup will be on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. ET. Please check in at the registration desk to receive your location assignment. The posters will remain in the poster hall for the full meeting. You should collect your poster at the end of the meeting or else it will be thrown out.

There will be two poster sessions. Closer to the meeting, you will receive the day and time you should be standing by your poster. There will be a printed poster session guide that includes a map of the poster hall, your poster title, presenter(s), and co-author(s). Your poster abstract will be available in an abstract book on the virtual event platform.

In-person poster presenters are also required to upload an electronic version of their poster (PDF) to the virtual event platform. Additionally, they can upload a video recording of your presentation and/or a handout with additional information (optional). In-person and virtual attendees will be able to access the platform. PDFs and any supplemental materials are due Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Accessibility and technical specifications for these materials were sent in the research poster instructions and guidelines document.
